Here we go....

So, I went to New York City on Tuesday (the um, 22nd. yeah, I know, took me long enough) . R, playing the "sweet and wonderful boyfriend" for a change, surprised me by asking off from work so he could drive me up for the interview and spend the day together, rather than having me ride the bus up with lots of annoying, loud obnoxious people.

It's now apparent that the saying "Jersey People Can't Drive" is attributed to the spawn of hell that is the northern part of the NJ Turnpike. Stacking up 4 car-lengths apart, randomly slamming on the breaks, using no blinkers whatsoever, and driving neck in neck with the cars in the other land were just a few of the driving sins committed.

I'd like to see you try that around here. You'd get run off the road. If you want to drive slow, get in the SLOW lane.

The agency I interviewed at was in lower Manhattan, 44th St. and 3rd Avenue, a block and a half away from Grand Central Station. I so wanted that internship. I had gotten sick over the past weekend and while home, almost deathly ill on Monday, I got a phone call from the art director saying that they went with some one else, who happened to be only 20 mins. outside of NYC, rather than me and my 2-hour-commute. Damn.

I cried. I felt like shit, and it seemed like my world had a choker-chain pulled tight around it and I was never gonna get out of my house and I would be stuck working where I am now at $8.25/hr. at a job I absolutely loathe, and I know I'm supposed to have a thick skin about my work because sometime it's just "not what they were looking for", but that was my first real rejection, and my head hurt, I couldn't breathe because of my cold and the tears didn't help that either and I was just MISERABLE.

But I'm better now.

I need a new job, but, I'm better.
